A battery manufacturer based in the Middle East has achieved a world first. StoreDot announced that it has developed a battery capable of 2,000 consecutive fast charge cycles. With this technology, an EV battery can charge up to 80% in just 10 minutes. This year, they will release a package that offers 160 km of range with a 5-minute charge. Here are the details…
A world first in EV batteries! 80% fast charging in 10 minutes!
Israel-based StoreDot achieved this significant breakthrough using silicon-anode batteries. Silicon can store much more electricity than graphite, but until now, swelling issues prevented the desired performance. However, StoreDot has solved the major fast-charging problem for EV batteries and significantly improved their performance.
This EV battery can fast charge from 10% to 80% in just 10 minutes while maintaining 80% of its capacity. StoreDot plans to launch a battery pack this year that offers approximately 160 km of range with a 5-minute charge. And this is just the beginning.
They aim to reduce the fast charge time to 3 minutes by 2028 and to 2 minutes by 2032. In the future, a coffee break will be all it takes to quickly charge your EV. StoreDot is using artificial intelligence and advanced nanotechnologies to develop this fast-charging technology for electric vehicles.
The company aims to commercialize this fast-charging battery technology and make it available for EV models worldwide. To achieve this goal, they have partnered with major companies like Samsung, Volvo, and BP. Additionally, they plan to expand their operations in the United States. This electric vehicle battery technology will soon be everywhere.
When EV replace gasoline cars, approximately 4,536 kg of carbon dioxide emissions can be prevented annually. This provides significant benefits for both the environment and our health. Additionally, electric vehicle usage offers substantial savings in fuel and maintenance costs. In other words, both your wallet and the planet benefit.
